Materials and Tools
Using two different yarn textures is an important part of this knitted sheep pattern, because the smooth yarn keeps the facial features clear while the boucle creates the fleece effect.
You will need approximately 100 g of Aran/worsted (#4) smooth cream yarn and 120 g of bulky (#5) cream boucle or teddy yarn. Black yarn or embroidery thread is used for the face and hoof details.
The pattern uses 4.0 mm / US 6 needles for the smooth yarn and 4.5 mm / US 7 needles for boucle. DPNs or 80 cm / 32 in circular needles for magic loop can be used.

Pin both arms, legs and ears before sewing so you can compare their height and angle from several directions.
Troubleshooting Common Problems
Boucle Stitches Are Difficult to Count
Spread the fleece gently and locate the knitted loops underneath. Temporary stitch markers can make shaping rounds easier to track.
The Head Leans
Check that the head and body centre-back positions are aligned. Adjust the upper-body stuffing before tightening the neck seam.
The Knitted Sheep Pattern’s Arms Point Forward
The flattened arm seams should be attached horizontally so the arms hang beside the belly rather than projecting forward.
