1. Purpose and scope
This Editorial Policy explains how LetYouCraft prepares, reviews, updates, labels, and corrects articles, craft patterns, diagrams, images, product recommendations, and other published material. Our goal is to provide useful, original, understandable resources that help readers complete projects with greater confidence.
2. Our editorial principles
- Usefulness: Every page should teach a skill, explain a project, answer a practical question, or provide a resource that helps the reader.
- Accuracy: Stitch counts, shaping, terminology, measurements, links, materials, and technical instructions are reviewed for consistency before publication.
- Clarity: We aim to use understandable language, consistent abbreviations, clear construction notes, and logical step-by-step organization.
- Transparency: We distinguish calculated dimensions, illustrative visuals, affiliate relationships, sponsorships, and other relevant limitations where they may affect a reader’s understanding.
- Independence: Advertising, sponsorship, or affiliate opportunities do not determine our ordinary editorial conclusions.
- Safety: When relevant, we highlight foreseeable concerns involving small parts, sharp tools, cords, adhesives, heat, allergies, or intended age groups.
- Respect: We do not knowingly copy another creator’s distinctive pattern, wording, chart, photograph, or original work without permission or another lawful basis.
3. Pattern and article review
Before publication, craft content may be reviewed for the following:
- The intended audience and stated skill level.
- Terminology and abbreviation consistency.
- Row-by-row or round-by-round stitch counts where included.
- Cast-on, chain, increase, decrease, bind-off, finishing, and assembly logic.
- Gauge-based measurements and whether dimensions are clearly identified as targets or verified physical measurements.
- Mirrored pieces, edge orientation, placement, shaping, seam allowances, and color changes where relevant.
- Materials, quantities, substitutions, finishing notes, and safety information.
- Grammar, formatting, internal links, image captions, attribution, and disclosure requirements.
4. Pattern measurements and physical samples
Some LetYouCraft patterns may be prepared without a completed physical sample. When that is the case, we aim to describe measurements as calculated design targets rather than verified finished dimensions. We do not claim that a pattern was physically tested, sampled, certified, or verified through a completed prototype unless that actually occurred.
Readers should also keep in mind that yarn brand, fiber content, gauge, tension, stuffing, substitutions, blocking, and finishing choices can affect the final size and appearance of a project.
5. Images, diagrams, and project visuals
- Images and illustrations should be relevant to the project or topic they accompany.
- Illustrative project visuals should not be described in a way that falsely implies independent certification, customer submission, or physical testing.
- Diagrams should be legible and consistent with the accompanying written instructions.
- Useful images should include meaningful alternative text where practical.
- Third-party photographs, charts, patterns, and other media are used only with permission, a valid license, or another lawful basis.
6. Sources and attribution
For legal, safety, technical, product, or policy claims, we prefer primary or authoritative sources when appropriate. These may include official documentation, manufacturers, standards bodies, regulators, research publications, or original source material. Common craft knowledge may be explained without formal citation, but another creator’s distinctive work should not be reproduced without permission or another lawful basis.
7. Product recommendations and reviews
When LetYouCraft recommends a product, tool, yarn, or service, any relevant affiliate, sponsorship, gifted-product, or other material relationship should be disclosed. We do not describe an item as personally tested or used unless that is accurate. When a recommendation relies on specifications, manufacturer information, or other published evidence, we avoid presenting it as a hands-on review.
8. Advertising and commercial separation
Advertising is intended to remain distinguishable from editorial content. Advertisers and affiliate partners do not receive a right to approve ordinary editorial conclusions. Sponsored material is labeled, and material relationships that could affect a recommendation are disclosed where relevant.
9. Corrections and updates
Readers may report suspected errors to contact@letyoucraft.com. We prioritize corrections that affect safety, stitch counts, shaping, dimensions, assembly, placement, licensing, downloads, or purchasing decisions. Depending on the issue, we may correct the article, add a clarification, update a downloadable file, or withdraw the affected material.
Minor spelling or formatting corrections may be made without a public note. More substantial changes may be reflected in the page’s last-updated date or accompanied by a clarification where useful.
10. Reader comments and contributions
Reader feedback can improve our resources, but comments and submissions are not automatically verified. We may moderate or remove spam, harassment, dangerous instructions, undisclosed promotion, infringement, personal information, misleading claims, or off-topic material. Publication of a comment does not mean LetYouCraft endorses it.
11. Accessibility and readability
We aim to use readable page structure, descriptive headings, clear language, sufficient contrast, meaningful alternative text, and mobile-friendly formatting. We welcome accessibility feedback and reasonable correction requests.
